Farm Frenzy 3 - Full Game Review

Who would have thought that you could make a game out of all the hard work that happens on a farm? Well, here is the third installment of the Farm Frenzy series which I'm sure will continue to be a fan favorite.

This game brings a lot of new gaming experience to the table with its 95 levels and five global locations. Whole new experiences come with the various locations like penguins eating fish in the cold arctic climates to loins showing up in the Africa areas.

One really nice change between Farm Frenzy Pizza Party and Farm Frenzy 3 is, no more "recipes"! While recipes did add a new dimension to the game play, I personally did not like the complicated recipe system that Farm Frenzy Pizza Party introduced to the series. Farm Frenzy 3 is more "back to the basics" with its gaming style, starting you off with the basic chickens and feed, gathering eggs to store in your warehouse, and finally loading up your truck to sell your goods in town to earn money for upgrades. As the game progresses you will be introduced to new buildings and new animal types, each of these new buildings and animals offer you higher profits from the products you can produce.

Besides the solid, entertaining game play, Farm Frenzy 3 also upgraded the visual aspect of the game by enhancing the rich buildings and animals with more dimension and shadows. Everything in the game is now very dimensional, from the animated buildings to the more detailed, 3D looking animals. One drawback to the upgraded graphics is that the game does require a little more "horse power" from your computer to render the graphics smoothly. If you're running an older computer, you may notice some slowdowns when fast action is occurring like predators dropping from the sky while having a large amount of activity occurring on your farm.

In the world of MMORPGs World of Warcraft is a game that needs no introduction. A game that has dominated the genre for quite a while with it's gameplay and lore. With the recent release of Icecrown Citadel, veterans and new players alike may be wondering what's to come after fighting against the Lich King. Blizzard Entertainment isn't quite finished delivering new content, and the newest expansion known as Cataclysm is their next package. Among the things to come in the newest expansion, here are a few things to expect.

With each expansion pack's release the level cap has increased. With the first two expansions the level cap went up 10 levels. This time around the developers have only raised the level cap by 5. This is a convenient thing for players who plan to level multiple characters in the expansion.

New playable races. That's right, two new playable races are being added to the game. The Alliance will be seeing the werewolf-life worgen race and the Horde will be gaining goblins. Each race will have their unique racial abilities and specific class options. Look forward to seeing many players either race change, or create new characters to start off the expansion packs debut. Along with these new playable character classes, there will also be new classic combinations. Previous races will be gaining new class availability, such as Blood Elf Warriors for example. There are a lot of exciting things to look out for with the release of this expansion.

Cataclysm will be adding more end-game content for players to enjoy. The expansion hasn't even been released and claims to have more raid content than ever before. Players will be able to explore newly opened zones such as Uldum, Grim Batol, and the Sunken City of Vashj'ir which is loacated beneath the sea. Along with the PvE content, PvP content will be seeing quite a nice change. With new battlegrounds and a new rated battleground system, the PvP side of the game should be a refreshing change. Along with these new changes is a new Wintergrasp-like area. Factions will compete against each other on the newly created Tol Barad Island, participating against each other in daily quests.

Road to Riches 2 marks the second outing in this well-received time management game series. This time, you play the part of a guy fresh out of the army and who wants to make it big in the trucking business. You get to manage his trucking customers, contracts, employees, trucks and more in this fast-paced game!

The story of Road to Riches 2 begins with the main character John leaving the army and trying to find a way to earn money. His brother-in-law lends him a truck to help him get started, and John decides to try turning this into a profitable trucking business. And this is where you come in; your job is to help John manage his business efficiently in order to expand and turn his one-truck home business into a huge trucking empire.

The game starts out pretty slow, as you spend the first two levels learning the game controls and how to pick up and deliver goods (which isn't difficult; almost everything involves clicking a button). You will spend this first part of the game watching John drive his single truck from customer to customer as he slowly earns enough cash to expand his business. Thankfully, there is a fast-forward button to speed up this boring "tutorial" phase.

The basic trucking jobs involve you picking up goods from one location and delivering them to another. You could visit a potential customer throughout the city, or you could wait for a plane, train or boat to come in with a fresh load. You can even get trucking jobs via phone. Things become even more interesting once you have more trucks and you need to allocate trucks to delivery orders in order to maximize your efficiency.

Other lessons learnt during this early phase include deciding which delivery jobs to accept and which ones to reject. It's not very efficient to accept a job that requires you to go all the way across town, especially when your next jobs are nowhere near that location. You also learn other basics such as maintaining your truck before it breaks down, and giving your driver a coffee break before he passes out.

Dante's Inferno Review

Dante's Inferno is a great game with a lot of good and fun times to offer. Dante's Inferno is based on the book Inferno which is the first book in the the epic poem The Divine Comedy. It does a marvelous job of depicting the 9 layers of hell and all of the gore and death that a person would think that happens in hell. The player will take control of Dante who has just returned from a holy crusade. As he returns home he arrives just in time to witness Lucifer take his beloved bride to be Beatrice down to hell. He quickly follows them and begins his journey through the circles of hell. You will have a guide that will tell you about the circles but besides information about the particular circle he wont be much help.

The story follows that of the Divine Comedy so if you have read the epic poem the story in the game wont surprise you much except for a few things that were changed. The audio is great as you will hear people screaming and being tortured in the background as you traverse through hell. The music is also very well done as it fits with the entire hell concept. Their are moments where the music will turn eerie to make the player sort of know that something is coming such as what is done in horror films. Besides the story this game offers nothing new to gaming such as it has very similar concepts that can be found in other games such as the combat system and developing the characters.

The combat system was not a deterrent as it is very similar to those of the God of War series. If you have played God of War and loved the combat mechanics then this game will be very enjoyable. A mechanic that God of War did not have however is the absolve and punish mechanic. This feature of combat lets the player use either Dante's cross to absolve the demon or to punish it using the scythe (which would usually mean slashing the demon into 2 pieces). This mechanic is not just for combat however because as the player travels through the 9 circles of hell they will see souls of people which they can decide to punish or absolve. If the player decides to absolve the soul they will play a little mini game. The player must press the buttons corresponding with the sin that is coming down the same slot. Now the souls can vary with different people with Pontius Pilate and Atilla the Hun being 2 of the many souls the player can punish or absolve. There will be other noticeable people the player will meet such as Cleopatra and Mark Antony as well as creatures from hell who are also well known such as Cerberus.

Bubble Shooter Game Review

The game of Bubble Shooter comes in many variants and even seasonal special editions. The version "Bubble Shooter deluxe v1.6" from Absolutist Games is by far the most popular version which was developed originally in 2004 and we will use this version as the basis for this review. The game is readily available for download for Windows or Mac and also has applications for most PDA style of devices such as iPhone and Palm in addition to Linux based software and CD availability. Whatever method you prefer, and whichever format you like your games to be available in, the makers of Bubble Shooter seem to have thought of them all.

As with all of the Bubble shooting style of games this is easy to play and has simple rules and straight forward play methodology. It is quite addictive to play and the player would be wise to complete any work needing to be done, or appointments needing to be kept prior to launching this cute but demanding application.

The main objective is to clear the screen and there is only one basic method by which to do this, simply fire your bubbles at the multi-colored pack and have them explode in front of your eyes. To do this one has to have a minimum of three similarly colored bubbles on the field of play and by striking them they will explode and clear that part of the screen.

The game is won or lost when either the bubbles reach the bottom of the screen or the player manages to clear all the bubbles from the screen. The play itself is simple, just line up the arrow with the direction you wish your bubble to travel and click the pointed part of the arrow to fire your bubble towards the pack. If you manage to explode a set of bubbles with more than three of the same color, then that "hit" will be worth more points than a pack of three would be. So, as an example, one set of six bubbles is worth more than two sets of three.

Looking For Music Outside on the Patio? An Easy How-To Guide

Are you having a party? Do you enjoy a barbecue? Are you fed up with having your only source of music being inside the house, and suffer from deafeningly loud music inside so that you can hear it outside? Your answer is speakers which are designed to be left outside so that you can enjoy the music at any time.

There are two main types of outdoor speakers; ones which are designed to fix to the side of the house, and ones that sit on the ground. Both types of speaker can easily be connected to any Hi-Fi system, you simply need to run a cable out to them.

First, decide on where you want the speakers. If you have a small garden, or only want the music next to the house, fixing them to a wall is the easiest. If you can fix them under the eaves, they will be almost unnoticeable visually from the ground. If you have a larger garden, and want the music in areas where there are no walls to fix to, speakers are available which can be hidden amongst the plants.

Wherever you decide to install your speakers, you will need to get the speaker cable out of the house. Speaker cable is naturally waterproof, due to the plastic coating, out we would recommend using a round-section double insulated cable to make it easier to run through the wall and provide a good seal against water when used with grommets and connectors, which usually have trouble sealing with standard figure-eight speaker cable, due to the gap between the cores. When drilling through walls, ensure there are no power cables or water pipes need to be avoided, and can usually be located using a pipe detector. Drill the hole slightly larger than the cable to make it easier to thread, but not so big that sealing the gap becomes a big job. Where possible, angle the hole downwards slightly so that the opening outside is lower than the opening inside the house. This will prevent water running down the outside of the wall or the cable and in through the hole in the wall.

Using the well-known fact that music education raises a child's IQ by up to 40 percent, we can now consider how books and reading in general can help our "musical" children.

Presently, mankind, having achieved enormous strides in the field of technology, continues to invent new means of receiving and distributing information almost daily. Radios, TVs, computers, and the Internet are now a normal way of life. Do you know that all information received doubles every year and a half due to the general acceleration of technology?

These days, we and our children do not need to go to the bookstores and libraries. We can easily find the book we are looking for on the Internet. Moreover, if we have no time to sit and read, we can record the audio version of the book and listen to it while driving, walking, or doing any other activity that doesn't require much reflection. There are also video books. Certainly, these adaptable gadgets are very convenient and we should be grateful to people who invent things to make our lives easier and help us save precious time.

Our children, looking at us, try to copy the things we do. Receiving news in the "easier" version, for example from the TV, the new generation began to read less. On one hand it is normal. But if you want your child to play music without losing interest, he has to read a lot. While reading, a child increases his vocabulary and intelligence. Your imagination automatically "turns on" when you read something exciting.

Good acoustic songs are hard for any music fan to resist. Even if you aren't naturally fond of mellow music, you are bound to enjoy an acoustic cover song here and there. These songs can provide a variety of functions from romantic background music, to cover band material and even learning material for a new guitarist. No music fan or musician is immune to the lure of sultry acoustic music.

All good acoustic songs have two things in common that make them so amazing. The first thing they include is naturally the guitar. The second key is a good singer. If you have these two elements then you are well set to perform popular acoustic music anywhere you'd like. The songs offer a good guitar melody that you just can't shake from your brain. It's one of those songs that you find yourself humming and you don't even know why it's in your head.

Mastering the art of performing acoustic music is easier said than done. Since they are so simple in nature there is very little to fall back on aside from your natural voice talent and skills as a guitarist. If you have the desire to perform acoustic guitar songs, then chances are that you will have a good bit of work ahead of you before you are ready to make it big.

If you are just getting started in the world of wonderful acoustics and need some inspiration in regards to which songs to learn and play, the internet can provide you with page upon page of suggestions. Not only will you be able to find other people's ideas of the best acoustic music, but you will also be able to find the guitar chords and lyrics for most songs as well.
This is a book specifically written to show musicians how to promote their bands. I'm not a musician, so you might wonder why I would be interested in reviewing it. Some years back I was involved in band publicity in a very small way. My son studied piano and guitar. He played in a number of local bands and they cut a few CDs. At one point he envisioned a career in the music world. Aside from being an appreciative audience, I helped with publicity and started a web site for him. Although he is now involved in other pursuits, such as raising a family, music is and always will be a part of his life. And now my two grandsons are on the brink of starting piano and guitar lessons. Who knows, I may be promoting them one of these days so I read Music Success in Nine Weeks by Ariel Hyatt with an eye to the future. Wow, have I been out of touch. There is so much more to promoting these days.

Ariel Hyatt has solid credentials. She founded Ariel Publicity & Cyber PR, a music publicity firm in 1996 and she holds workshops and boot camps to teach musicians how to achieve success. I was very impressed with her step by step guide. She doesn't miss a thing. The book is packed with great ideas. So much has changed and so many new avenues for publicity have been opened up by the digital age it's easy to miss what might be an important step to success.

With week one the author begins by creating an atmosphere for setting realistic goals then week two teaches you how to write a good pitch to describe your music. Next she tells you how to optimize your website and get visitors to join your fan base. Week four is all about Cyber PR, using social networking sites to connect with fans. In week five you will be creating your blog and in week six a band newsletter. In week seven you will learn how to grow a healthy fan email list. The internet is important but you still need an offline presence. Week eight shows you how to connect with people in person. Week nine helps you create a product line, CDs, tee-shirts, etc. the book may seem high priced but it's well worth it and you also get a free lifetime membership to Hyatt's closed online Mastermind Forum where you get support and can meet other musicians.

When we see an entertainer on stage or screen, it's very easy to assume that they somehow got there on their looks, talent or both. Of course, there are instances where it seems neither apply, but in reality, the person that you see is "the face" of a team of about one hundred to two hundred and fifty (or more) people who actually are the Producers, Agents, Managers, PR people, Lawyers, etc., that are the real "brains" behind the operation. It should also be noted that most also receive an up front fee and/or percentage of the pay that is received by "the face" as well.

Here, I have listed just a few of the people that you will need on your team if you decide to pursue a career in the entertainment field. It should be noted that although I am leaning toward the area of music entertainment, any area of the entertainment industry will require the equivalent industry professionals to function within the entertainment sector. Some are obvious, some are not, but all are equally important.

Record Producer:

The record Producer functions as the organizer of the CD recording. Picking out the songs, lining up musicians, studio time and other parts of the recording process. When you see the title "produced by" on the cover of the CD, that indicates that the final product that you here

is the responsibility of that person or persons listed. Having a professional producer for you record will actually save time and money, as well as,insure the over all quality of the recording. Many times when you go into a studio as a blind beginner, the owner and/or engineer (that's the guy turning the knobs and hooking up the microphones etc.) will assume these responsibility and assist in this process (hopefully). The success and quality of the recording ultimately rest in the hands of the producer so choose wisely. Producers are generally paid a fee up front plus percentages.

He also tells Grace that she is headed towards hell and asked her if she is ready to give herself to god. Suddenly Earl and the man who came under her car disappear. The place seemed, as if there was never any accident. There is only one proof of the accident and that is the blood on Grace's blouse which she got from the victim.
Is the Operation Repo TV Show Real Or Fake?

If you've watched the show "Operation Repo" on the truTV cable channel, you've probably wondered if it's real or fake. After all, a repo man could get sued (or even arrested) for laying a hand on a debtor or pepper spraying them without just cause.

While there's little definitive information on the Internet about whether or not Operation Repo is real, here are three facts that may indicate the show is fake:

Fact #1 - Repo Men Cannot Breach the Peace

Putting people in headlocks, shoving people and otherwise engaging in confrontational behavior is against the law. Most repo agents never resort to such extreme measures to repossess vehicles. If they do, they can be held civilly and criminally liable for their actions.

Keep in mind TV - and especially "reality TV" - is supposed to entertain people. It's exaggerated.

Most repossessions go-down with little trouble. People already know they're behind on payments, so they're not surprised when the repo man comes for their car. Professional repo men remain calm in in-control at all times. They're aware of the laws and they shouldn't break them.

Fact #2 - There's an Operation Repo Movie Under Production

According to IMDb, there's a move being released by the same name. It features actors and actresses reenacting real events. If the move isn't real, the TV show probably isn't real, either. Matt, the star of the show, even has his own web site with information about his acting career.

Fact #3 - Operation Repo Has a Disclaimer at the Beginning

There is now a disclaimer at the beginning of the show that says it is "based on real events." How accurately the show depicts real events is subjective. Reality sells, whether or not the reenactment is accurate or a complete exaggeration of the truth.

That said, Operation Repo is still an entertaining TV show. Take it with a grain of salt!

The American fashion makeover show What Not to Wear is on its fourth season on the cable television channel The Learning Channel (TLC). The show first debuted in the UK, and remains a popular show, and the American spin-off has earned the same substantial audience. The show is hosted by Stacy London and Clinton Kelly, both fashion gurus in their own right. Fashion consultant Stacy London was born in New York City and attended Vassar College. After college she worked as a fashion assistant at Vogue magazine and later returned to Conde Nast as a senior fashion editor at Elle magazine. London has many celebrity clients including Kate Winslet and Liv Tyler, and has worked for many large fashion houses to advise and direct their fashion shows. Since 2003, London has also worked as a style advisor to numerous advertising campaigns including CoverGirl, Suave and Target. London's humorous counterpart, Clinton Kelly is a fashion consultant as well as a media personality. Kelly, a native of Long Island, earned his degrees at Boston College and Northwestern University. Like London, Kelly earned his fashion experience at magazines such as Mademoiselle and Marie Claire.

The genius paring of Kelly and London has resulted in What Not to Wear, the popular ambush makeover show that is delivered with humor and professionalism. The reality program gets its contestants through referrals from friends and family of those who have been deemed to be "fashion challenged." Kelly and London appear at the designated contestant's home or office and announce that they have been selected for a complete fashion and beauty makeover. The contestant is completely surprised by the arrival of crew and cameras and this surprise element adds to the novelty of the show. Once the cameras cover the inappropriate and unattractive clothing of the contestant, he or she is offered a Visa card with $5000.00 on it in order to buy a whole new wardrobe. However, there is a catch. The contestant must agree to hand over his or her entire wardrobe to Kelly and London and go on a two day supervised and controlled shopping spree. The contestant can only buy within a set group of parameters, and if not, they are not allowed to purchase the item.

If you haven't tuned into Lifetime's new show, Drop Dead Diva, you are truly missing out on a totally delightful experience. The show stars Brooke Elliott, Magret Cho and Jackson Hurst.

The show starts off with a twenty three year old pretty blonde named Deb and her handsome boyfriend named Grayson Kent (Grayson is played by Jackson Hurst). The two are very much in love, in fact you could call them soul mates. Grayson is a lawyer and Deb is an aspiring model. Deb then meets her demise while on her way to a modeling gig with the Price is Right, by smashing her shiny red convertible in to large truck of grapefruit.

Deb soon finds herself on the other side of the pearly gates when she is greeted by her guardian angel 'Fred'. Fred has major dilemma to solve when he becomes aware that Deb has done no good or bad deeds while on earth. She is 0 for 0. While Fred is trying to sort things out Deb notices a sign stating not to push the 'Return to Earth' button on the keyboard. She immediately pushes it and finds herself transported into another woman's body. A not so young thirty something, overweight brunette's body, who's name was Jane Bingum who was recently killed by a gunman. Jane's character is played by Brooke Elliott. Jane is also a lawyer like Grayson, in fact she works at the same law firm as Grayson. Margret Cho plays Teri Lee, Jane's quirky assistant.
This show is really endearing, it has the perfect blend of intriguing courtroom drama and big humor. It can even pull at your heartstrings. Affected by "Fear Factor" and Japanese game shows, "Wipeout" starts by pitting twenty four challengers opposite each other in a match inside a special and challenging activity maze. 1 iconic example of the obstacles the guests may could encounter are the "Big Balls." The contestants must traverse a muddy body of fluid by jumping upon some humongous floating balls. An undignified swim awaits those who fail to pass this challenge.
The 12 quickest finishers of the first round move on to the 2nd. The challenge varies, but the challengers once more face the likely possibility of ending up taking a plunge into a muddy pit. Six contestants survive this round and head on to round three, which narrows the field down to the best 4 survivors. The third round resembles the first because the players must transverse a huge and complicated challenge course. As in the earlier courses, getting soaked is extremely likely. The challenger who completes the field in the shortest amount of time claims the grand treasure of $50,000.

This is a very well made crime drama starring John Leguizamo as two characters Dante Mendoza and his twin brother Perfecto.

It starts off with a seemingly ordinary day where a cop Alberto Santana played by Benny Nieves and his partner Joe Bruno played by the stalwart Harvey Keitel (Pulp Fiction), have come to wish Alberto's daughter Celeste a happy birthday, as Alberto, his wife Gina played by Diane Venora (The 13th Warrior) and Celeste are walking arm in arm towards Celeste's present, a gunman from nowhere turns up and shoots Alberto point blank, then hands Celeste a pamphlet that reads "A Message from the Lord".

We meet Celeste several years later who is now a police officer and played by the gorgeous Florencia Lozano (One Life to Live, she looks very much like Matt Parkman's wife in Heroes), and whose partner is none other than her father's partner Joe. She is still very bitter at not having caught the murderer of her father, who also at the same time period that her father was killed, killed two businessmen that had committed insurance fraud, where a fire is set to dilapidated buildings in order to collect the insurance money.

In turns out that a similar murder has just taken place with the trademark of "The Ministers" where two armed men wearing a hairy face mask, enter a drug fueled neighbourhood and proceed to shoot all the men they encounter, but leave the women as witnesses, with one of them quoting scripture to her as his partner kills the others.

Celeste is extremely keen on taking the case, much to the despair of her boss, Captain Diaz played by Wanda De Jesus (Blood Work), as well as Joe. Joe on the other hand feels a little guilty for the death of his partner after so many years, and the last thing he would like is for Celeste to put herself in danger, when he has ingrained himself into their family, and considers her his daughter.

This is a charming-magical movie about the age-old topic of believing in Santa Claus and the magic of Christmas.

It stars the lovely Nicole De Boer (Cube, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) as Liz McCann a Real Estate Agent who doesn't believe in Christmas but sees it just as any other holiday, and would rather be working.

However she is a single mother to young Mason, played by Gig Morton, who is eagerly in the festive spirit. While at work Liz gets a phone call from her father played by Gary Chalk (Stargate SG-1), inviting her and Mason to come along and pay him a visit at Hollyville and celebrate Christmas with him, she initially declines as she remembers her dad never celebrated Christmas.

It so happens that her dad phones again while they are at home, and asks her a second time, Mason happens to be around, and not wanting to dash his hopes she agrees.

On their trip they are unable to find Hollyville, until the car breaks down and Mason spots a reindeer in the woods, Liz doesn't see the reindeer and dismisses it, while she runs after Mason they both see Hollyville lighted up in the midst of all the trees.

On arriving at the town Liz is extremely surprised to find her father working at the local restaurant where everyone seems so happy, she has never seen her father so happy and friendly, and at one point she asks him "Who are you and what have you done to my dad"?

It so happens her father would like to make up for all the years he was never any good at making her happy especially during Christmas, and he would like to make this Christmas special not just for his grandson but for his daughter too.

Mason on the other hand has found some surprising discoveries, the quiet town is home to N.P. Enterprises short for North Pole Enterprises, whose business seems to be transport all over the globe.

This is a dark futuristic view of how the world could possibly become, where everyone has a surrogate, a robot with all the features of a human, that is controlled remotely by the owner, with the owner having all their senses interact with whatever the machine is encountering. The owner lives in a virtual world, where the surrogate lives his or her life for him or her, the plausible justification for it of course is that the owner is less at risk from disease and infection, and indeed any harm to their real body, they can virtually go to work, and play, with no worries about their real body, all the toll is taken on the surrogate.

From the opening credits we get introduced to the justification for surrogates, with first a machine where a monkey controls an arm containing a nut with just its mind, to people who are paralysed, controlling robots to do their daily tasks, and people in the army using surrogates for war without any fear of their real bodies being in danger.

Soon Congress signs in to law surrogates for the use in every day lives, but as usual there are objectors to this whole idea of surrogates, the main opponent of this is The Prophet played by Ving Rhames (Pulp fiction), who has set up communes where only humans are allowed. We meet our protagonist, a very young looking Bruce Willis (12 Monkeys) as Tom Greer along with his partner Peters played by the lovely Radha Mitchell (Pitch Black), who are investigating the murder of a surrogate, but in this case, the owner of the surrogate died at the same time the surrogate was destroyed. It turns out that the owner of the surrogate is non other than the son of the inventor of surrogates, Canter played by the dependable James Cromwell (L.A. Confidential).

Movie Reviews this week looks at the Oscar winning biographical drama The Blind Side.

It is an absolutely charming story, of Leigh Anne Tuohy played by the lovely Sandra Bullock (Speed), and the story of her adopted son, and you can see immediately why she won the best actress Oscar.

She plays a conservative mother in a very nice and well-off neighbourhood, who sees Michael Oher played very convincingly by Quinton Aaron, one rainy night walking aimlessly, she asks her husband Sean played by Tim McGraw (Four Christmases), to stop the car, she asks him where he is heading seeing he is just in a t-shirt in the pouring rain, he says he is going to the gym, she asks him again why he is going to the gym, and tells him the gym closed a while back, and for him not to lie to her, he says he is simply going there because it is warm.

Prior to this, we are told the story of how Mike got into the school in the first place. The coach at this Christian school, Burt Cotton played charmingly as always by Ray McKinnon (Randy and the Mob) had been approached by a fellow to allow his son into the school, as well as Mike, the coach sees Mike and the man's son playing basketball and sees the potential of Mike making them famous on a sporting arena, so convinces the board that it is their Christian duty to let him in. However in class Mike seems distant minded, and all the teachers are worried as he seems the slowest in the class, except for one particular teacher Mrs. Bower played the lovely Kim Dickens (Hollow Man) who notices Mike remembers the majority of what the teachers are saying, as he is able to describe in his own words the grasp of what it is they are saying, but may not necessarily write it down as eloquently as they wanted. As all the teachers are discussing Mike's ability one day, wondering if he can write, Mrs. Bower shows them a note that Mike had written that had been thrown in the trash, speaking of his sadness and what the teachers expect of him, to do all the work alone.

Movie Review - The Hurt Locker

The Hurt Locker shows us what it is like to be up close and personal with danger, with an unseen enemy who speaks a foreign tongue. It shows us what it is like to be afraid of dying every day or what it is like to eradicate all fear from your body and face that enemy with the utmost confidence. The Hurt Locker is the story of a group of three Army bomb squad soldiers, young men, who have seen the worst in the Iraq War, yet try to face each day with a strong mind. However, with each day comes new challenges.

The three main characters are actors whom I have not seen before, and if I have, I don't remember them, though with their performances in this movie, I'm sure I will in the future. The movie's star is Jeremy Renner. He plays the central character Staff Sergeant William James - the seasoned, arrogant bomb-tech who joins the squad early on when their team leader dies. He doesn't like to play by the rules and is disliked right away by Sergeant JT Sanborn, played by Anthony Mackie. Sanborn is the soldier who tries to keep the squad on their feet, primed for action. The third soldier is played brilliantly by Brian Geraghty. He is specialist Owen Eldridge - the soldier who is trying to overcome great fears about death. With constant meetings with his doctor, to talk about his fears, he repeats at different times, "Be all that you can be," the Army's slogan. "What if all I can be is dead on the side of an Iraqi road?" he questions.

The Hurt Locker is also a study of human emotion. All three of these soldiers represent different types of soldiers and, perhaps, different emotions evident in just one soldier whilst in the field of battle. James represents confidence and/or arrogance, Sanborn represents strength-under-pressure, and Eldridge - fear.
